GILD Bankers advised Alma Littera, the largest book publisher and retailer in the Baltic States, in the acquisition of Baltų Lankų Knygynas
Alma Littera, the leading book publisher and retailer in Lithuania and the Baltics, has acquired a bookstore chain Baltų Lankų Knygynas. GILD Investment Banking team in Lithuania advised Alma Littera in the transaction.

The nature of the transaction fits a trend we have witnessed recently, as there is increasingly more domestic consolidation deals while acquisitions by foreign strategic investors, which seem to have postponed their Baltic plans indefinitely, have vanished altogether.
Baltų Lankų Knygynas was established in 2002. The company currently operates four bookstores in Akropolis shopping centres in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and Šiauliai. Company`s revenues for 2008 were EUR 6.4 million (LTL 22.1million).
Alma Littera, established in 1990, owns Alma Littera and Sviesa publishing houses and the Pegasas bookstore chain with 31 locations. The company employs approximately 500 people and its revenue for 2008 was EUR 29 million (LTL 102 million).
